Paper presentation opportunity - College Board Puerto Rico and Latin America Annual Conference

College Board of Puerto Rico and Latin America (CBPRLA) will be having it's Annual Conference on April 10-12, 2013 at the Puerto Rico Convention Center in San Juan. The central theme of this edition is The multiple dimensions of educational evaluation: Reflections at the 50th Anniversary.

Among the three major topics to be addressed in this conference is educational evaluation and assessment. Presentations will focused on different approaches to these areas, as well as the importance of evaluation of student learning, and other topics such as successful national evaluation projects, strategies and models of evaluations, including international evaluations, and the use of evaluations in planning and decision making.

We believe that the CBPRLA Conference is a unique opportunity that the Assessment Coordinators (AC), or people who work in related areas at our campus, have to submit proposals for presentation related to assessment of student learning processes. In these paper presentations AC can present their progress towards establishing a culture of assessment at different levels (classroom, department, academic program), as part of the requirements for professional accreditation or related to their own research activities, as well as how findings have been used to improve teaching and learning.

Due to its nature, this conference allows us to demonstrate the multiple efforts that our academic community has carried out in order to assess students learning and plan accordingly educational activities geared towards strengthening this process. For this reason, the Deanship of Academic Affairs has offered to sponsor the cost of inscription ($100) for one paper presentation by two Assessment Coordinators interested in participating at this conference.

Those interested in being considered for the incentive to participate in this conference must send us the completed Presentation Proposal Form presented on description of the conference by Wednesday, December 12. Furthermore, all those interested must also send this document directly to the person in charge of the registration for the conference (ncheveres@collegeboard.org) by December 14 in order to participate.

The OEAE personnel will evaluate the proposals sent by those Assessment Coordinators interested in receiving this incentive, in accordance with the criteria established in the Presentation Proposal Form. We will take into consideration the documents submitted by the academic programs to the OEAE. We will contact the two people chosen to receive this incentive on Thursday, December 13.

  • Title of the presentation: the title must be brief and attractive. It can not exceed 15 words.
  • Summary of the program: Include a brief summary of the presentation (approximately 60 words). This information will be published in the Program of the 50th Anniversayr.
