To coordinate and institutionalize student learning assessment efforts through the integration and implementation of the Evaluation of the Student Learning Plan of the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus.

To provide support services to coordinators of the assessment program about the selection of suitable quantitative and qualitative instruments and the disclosure of assessment results within the campus.

Call for presentations - XII Puerto Rican Congress on Research in Education (March 7-9, 2013)


The College of Education of the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus, invites you to submit presentation proposals for the XII Puerto Rican Congress on Research in Education, featuring the theme:
“XXI Century Skills: Trends, Debates and Controversies in Education”
Among the research subtopics to be addressed are:
  • Education policies: Towards a new paradigm of knowledge?
  • Evaluation of 21st century skills
  • Education systems: Transformation, labor and citizenship
  • Trends and controversies in the teaching of values
  • Modalities and controversies in bilingual education
  • New trends of research in education
  • Integrating technology in diverse curricular areas
  • Strategies and debates on reading and writing
  • The profile of the XXI century teacher
  • Diversity: Emerging trends in education
  • Interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary models in education
  • Health education: views and controversies

The deadline for proposal submissions to the XII Puerto Rican Congress on Research in Education has been extended to January 25, 2013. 

The activities will be held from March 7 thru March 9, 2013 in the Eugenio María de Hostos Building, College of Education of the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. There will be conferences, plenary lectures, panel discussions, and poster sessions presented by Puerto Rican researchers as well as by international visitors.
The Puerto Rican Congress on Research in Education originated in 1987 as a result of the initiative of several professors from the Department of Graduate Studies and the Educational Research Center, College of Education at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. Since its beginning, it has been committed to disseminate research in the College of Education, the country and the Caribbean region, in order to contribute to the Puerto Rican education.
Over the years, this Congress has become one of the core activities of the Educational Research Center and the College of Education, while it has continued to expand its reach to the Puerto Rican educational environment. In addition of being a forum for research conducted in Puerto Rico, the Congress provides a space for the exchange of ideas with guests from Latin America, the United States, the Caribbean region, Europe, and other countries around the world.
In the past, the Congress has been co-sponsored by several entities, among them the Chancellor’s Office of UPR- Rio Piedras Campus, the Office of the President of the University of Puerto Rico, the Dean of Academic Affairs, the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research of the UPR, and the Puerto Rico’s Council of Higher Education.
Goals
  • To promote research in all its forms.
  • To promote the work of researchers, professors, teachers and students.
  • To emphasize research as a valuable means to study and analyze the challenges and possibilities of education towards social problems.
  • To contribute to the development of critical and creative thinking among educators at the national and international levels.
  • To stimulate research work that will encourage the transformation of the educational practices.
